Duct Tape Roses .... without the DUCT tape

I am making hubby half a dozen duct tape roses for V-Day because 1) he loves hand made things and 2) he loves duct tape ... but I ran into a huge problem. Okay, not so huge, but still, I couldn't find RED duct tape ... but I did find red electrical tape. I bought it (along with the blue, the black, the red and the green). Do you duct tape experts think it'll work the same way or should I use duct tape and then sharpie red marker the gray nastiness??
