Pondering..
Feb. 21st, 2004 07:54 amLong winded verbose question follows....
I am dying to make some of my own drapes. Here's the problem. I have 4 HUGE windows in my bedroom. Three of them are side by side in a push out bay window style. I am sort of fashioning my room after the "elephant room" in Moulin Rouge. I want all reds and purples and middle eastern looking. The windows let in waaay too much light. I want dark red velvet drapes that go from ceiling to floor and puddle on the bottom. I'm also thinking of adding some purple sheer fabric over it to accent it a bit.
Here's my problem (among the many). I've gone everywhere to look for this fabric and find either small bolts (I want very wide fabric) and/or horribly expensive (around $15-$20 per yard). What I'd really love is an old theatre type drapery. Does anyone know where I can find wide velvet like fabric that won't make me mortgage the house to purchase?
I'm thinking that if I can't find this, I'm going to build a huge privacy screen out of wood and faux paint the look of the drapery right on it.
*sigh*
x-posting this all over the darn place. Sorry :/
