ungluing superglue

craftgrrli have several miniatures that i'd like to repaint/reposition. they're plastic, or a combination of metal and plastic, painted with acrylics. destroying the paint is fine, melting or scoring the plastic isn't. from checking the faq, i'm thinking i should try denatured alcohol, but does anyone have experience with attempting to dissolve superglue or using denatured alcohol on plastic?
