hey all, new here- so I thought I'd introduce myself by sharing my latest crafty endeavour. I browsed through the memories section and didn't find this, but if it's been said and done, forgive the newbie...

I guess the best way to describe it would be decoupage on glass- get some clear glass plates and bowls from the thrift store (not too many scratches and still only 50 cents) and some permanent acrylic varnish from the local art goodies shop. Choose something nifty on paper- stamps, comic books, wrapping paper, etc. Now do the decoupage thing! Use smallish peices of paper and several layers to protect the paper from the wear and tear of washing. And remember to paste stuff to the back part of a plate or the outside of the bowl (but with the design facing up on the plate or wherever on the bowl). Let it dry completely and enjoy your re-newed dining set! As far as I know, you can't stick the finished product in the dishwasher but you can eat you heart out off the non-varnished side.

I made a set for my friend using Wonder Woman comics and I will porbably make some plates for myself with origami paper. Hooray.
