Tea or coffee dying

Hey guys. I have this white top that went terribly wrong while stenciling. So I am going to cut a hole in the middle where the stencle was and sew in some coloured materail. Biut i want to die the shirt that coffe or tea colour. So do i put some coffe or tea in a bucket with hot water and leave it there. Also what should i do with the coloured material in the middle i want it to look sort of weird. Maybe like a cicle. Any cool really simple stencils like squares. Thanx guys
