Iron-on Transfer T-shirt funkiness.... :\

Hi there crafty gals. I have a quick question about iron-on transfers to t-shirts that I need your help with.

I was doing an iron-on transfer for a friend on a t-shirt and everything seemed dandy except once I had totally pulled off the backing - there was this white wash/finish to half of the transfer. :( Has anyone else experienced this while doing transfers? I made sure to cut around the image, except for a a few spots *oops* but I am really at a loss for what would have made that happen?? Hopefully someone knows.... :o) Thanks!
