I've posted this in lots of places so that no one else has to deal with this, I've also put it behind a cut so that you don't have to read it if it doesn't interest you.
My serger broke a few weeks ago so I decided it was time for a new one anyway and ordered one.
Well, my new serger didn't work out of the box, so I sent my machine back to the dealer I purchased it from (sewingmachineoutlet.com). They got it today and assured me that they sewed on the machine "forever" and there is nothing wrong with it. I'm not an idiot, I've worked with sergers for long enough to know when one is broken, I sat with the machine for five hours trying to figure out something, anything to fix it and nothing worked. He said it was user error and told me I would have to pay the return shipping on it. I had my husband call back because at that point in time I woulnd't be able to keep my cool with the guy. When he told him I wanted a refund on the machine the man we were dealing with said no, despite the fact that their site says they will refund anything that a customer wasn't happy with. We called BS on him and told him we would have american express reverse the charges if he didn't refund the money at which point he said he would pay the return shipping. So now I'm getting back a machine that supposedly works but I'm not really sure if it does or not and we're going to end up taking it to a dealer locally if there's still something wrong with it.
I'm exceedingly frustrated at this point in time, I don't have a serger, I don't know if I'm going to be getting back one that works, I can't get a refund on it and I can't finish orders for my site which means that now my business is suffering because of this. I'm in tears, the White 2000ATS may be the best machine money can buy but I wouldn't know because mine didn't work. I will never purchase a sewing machine from an online dealer again and I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau about this. Do not purchase a machine from sewingmachineoutlet.com!
