Make your own knitting needles

For all of you hard core DIYers and frugal folk, here is a page that tells you how to make your own knitting needles from hardwood dowels that you can get at a hardware store. I just might go this route, as I want some shorter needles than the ones that I can get locally, for when I'm making scarves and such, plus it'd just be cool.
