Skull and Crossbones

Hey...
I want to make my best friend either a hat or a bag...crocheted...and I can't seem to find a pattern for a skull and crossbones.
I can't even begin to imagine how to do that. Does anyone know of a pattern that I could follow to do that?
I imagine I could make 2 bone shaped pieces, crisscross them and then lay the skull on top...herm.
Has anyone ever attempted this before?
I did a search and couldn't find anything....
Any help would be appreciated.
