Craft Not Bombs Collectives
Apr. 21st, 2004 02:48 pmHello
I was in Toronto and saw a few really awesome shops of unique handmade clothes...so it got me thinking that I really really wanted to do something like this. But I don't wanna sell my stuff for $100 bucks and I also can't afford a whole shop myself.
My boyfriend gave me the idea that I should get a bunch of crafters together who split the cost of a shop, weekly or monthly meetings and put some of their stuff in it and recieve all the profits...so I guess like a collective that could do craft lessons and stuff like that as well. Has anyone ever tried this or knows of any people who are doing this? I think it would be an excellent way to
1. create some awesome crafting community in the diy spirit and
2. skip people's bullsh*T consignment fees where I'd get only like 40%. I'd much rather do trades to put stuff up for someone who can't afford a shop anyway...
We also talked about how food not bombs was just a couple kids who started and then people everywhere knew that and felt they could do it too....I wonder if this could work as well.....
Anyone in Massachusetts interested in seriously discussing starting something like this?
