Stinky tape

Here's a question for you:

Any ideas how to lessen the chemical stench of duct tape? Primarily, the duct tape used to cover a bodice in order to turn it into a far more interesting piece of clothing.

I have hung the bodice up to air, but any ideas on how to perfume/descent the tape would be lovely. I'd hate to scrap the project because the smell makes me want to hurl.
