[identity profile] azurerose.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] craftgrrl
I saw a darling little purse over the weekend at a boutique shop... pressed flowers between clear vinyl. They wanted $49 for it. *faints*

While I have no knowledge of the workings of vinyl, and can't seem to press flowers worth a darn, I immediately thought of this community, and "admired" the purse some more, intending to come back here and explain what it was, so perhaps it could inspire craftiness in others. :)

First, my pathetic attempt at drawing the purse in PSP. :)

The purse (minus handles) was approximately 6" wide by 6" high by 2&1/2" deep.

The front and back of the purse were made of thicker, matte-finish vinyl -- two sheets pressed together, each sheet slightly thinner than a credit card. sandwiched between the sheets on either side was a beautiful trail of pressed flowers and leaves. I *believe* the bottom of the purse was also the thicker vinyl, and had little silver squares for feet.

The sides of the purse were a thinner, softer vinyl (like shower curtains), and seemed to be fused to the thicker plastic along the edges, with silver square brad-things stapled through both thick and thin plastic, about 3/8" in from the edges.

The handles were made of vinyl, as well... slightly oval in thickness (like flattened tubing, perhaps?), with a metallic silver ribbon rippling through it. I don't remember how they were fastened to the outside of the purse; if silver squares were at the base of the handle for reinforcement or not.

I did a cursory search on the [livejournal.com profile] craftgrrl userinfo page's Google search, and didn't come up with anything like this, so I hope this is a new idea, or at least a variation thereof!
