Picture transfer with solvent question

If I set the picture onto fabric using acetone or another kind of solvent, is there anything specific that I need to do to make it washer proof / sturdy on the fabric. I was thinking maybe I needed to heat set it or something, but I'm not sure, and I'd rather have your guys input ifyou've done it before so I can get it done right the first time. Bought 5 shirts for 10 dollars so I was going to use them as experimentation. Hope they turn out good! I need new t-shirts! :-)
