t-shirt quilt

craftgrrlI have about 12 shirts just dying to get to get made into a quilt. I sew on occasion, and I haven't done anything this large in a while. Any suggestions for beginning quilters or little tips I should know about ? All the things in the memories seem to say is stuff I don't understand because I'm not real into sewing. Can someone give it to me in really stupid people's terms ?
Here are some of the shirts I'm using. Most are from bluecollardistro.com. The owner of that company's mom made him a quilt with a bunch of shirts they made, and it's hanging on a wall at their press. It's kinda the inspiration for this one.
