Nov. 1st, 2002 11:30 pmhey!
here's a stellar idea i've been saving forever. if anyone does this, post a pic! this is from a list from years ago..cant even remember now-but the poster was betty maple. thank you betty maple!
bathmats crocheted out of old grocery plastic bags:
"It's fairly simple. Cut your bags into strips about an inch or half inch wide, spiral cutting the bag to get as long a strip possible. Wind into balls loosely either matching colors or mixing them up as you prefer.Use alarge plastic crochet hook (used for rug and very bulky yarns) andc rochet them into your mat. If you don't crochet, any basic book will give you the basics, making a flat round rug is one the the easiest projects even for abeginner. The biggest trick is not to make your stitches tight and keep checking for flatness as you go. My grandma used to churn out these babies by the carload, using the old wonder bread bags, white with the multicolored ballons on them, I always thought they looked kinda cool. I love the picture idea! Mine is on the way."
