Below are details on how I made the Save the Date postcards for our wedding. I sent this to a fellow member of
weddingplans. I've been meaning to save this info somewhere before I forgot how to do it - maybe someone can use it. They use vintage postcard stamps and are similar to ones Martha Stewart Weddings featured last year (except the suggested just having a stamp made instead of doing it on the computer).
Below are details on how I made the Save the Date postcards for our wedding. I sent this to a fellow member of
- "SavetheDate - front-2.jpg" is the photo we used for the front,
"SavetheDate-back3.jpg" is the stamp back, which I got from http://www.playle.com/realphoto/backall.htm,
"SavetheDate-stamp3.jpg" is the stamp box, which I also got from http://www.playle.com/realphoto/backall.htm,
and "SavetheDate-Word-back2.doc" is how I arranged the back of the post card for printing on the Avery paper. I made it in Word, and if you want to try making your own you can use mine as a template - just double click on most of the text and stamps and replace them with your own selections. Alternatively, you can use Photoshop or any equivalent program set to 8.5"x11" paper. The front was also made the same way - just replace each postcard back with the photo we selected for the front.
I used perforated glossy Avery postcard paper for inkjet printers from Staples, but you can buy that or any generic brand at any office supply store. I did have to convert the jpgs on the postcard website from color to black and white in Photoshop before attaching them to the Word doc, but that didn't take long. I entered the text as a text box in Word, but was originally just going to write them by hand.
