Okay, I don't want this to be off-topic, but I wanted to say that for those of you who buy t-shirts for crafting and want to avoid sweatshop labor, there is a really interesting article about American Apparel in the latest(?) issue of JANE magazine. The one with drew barrymore on the front.

One of their writers spent some time with the head guy (dov something) and talked to him and a lot of the people who work in the american apparel factory making garments, and also to the people in "administration" or whatever you want to call it. there are one or two pictures of the factory, too.

the article shows the whole endeavor in a really positive light, mentioning wages of 12-15 dollars an hour, an optional healthcare plan, weekly below-cost sales of the clothes to employees, english-as-a-non-native-language classes, and even "if you asked dov to lend you money, he probably would" (paraphrased). among other things!

who knows whether the article is accurate or not, but for those who are interested in this topic it is certainly worth a look, even if you just flip through it at the magazine stand. i feel pretty okay about buying from them, now, even if that dov guy is a complete horndog. :)

i wont make any more sweatshop posts for at least a week or two, promise!;)
