Jun. 29th, 2004 07:13 pmHey hey pretty ladies!

I got the black and white dotted fabric for $2 a yard, a followed a Butterick pattern. It has an elastic waist, and a black silk lining on the underside (which wasn't in the pattern instructions, but I learned how by following some tips posted here earlier). I really like the way it came out, and considering it is my first skirt from this pattern, I am surprised by the ease. It is knee length.
I am though looking for some tips on how best to insert elastic the next time. I thought it would be simple (like threading a drawstring), but it did give me some trouble). Can you sew on elastic without the stitches popping?
PS. No, the big hands and hairy legs in the photo aren't mine. My boyfriend held it up while I snapped the picture.
