glue for waxy surfaces
Jul. 14th, 2004 02:16 pmHi gang,
I don't think I've ever posted, but I've been a little crazy about commenting lately. (I love this community!)
Anyway... I was hoping that some of you might have GLUE ADVICE for me. I'm making batik lampshades (yes, a tutorial will come once I master the art of loading up pictures to LJ) and I need a glue to hold it together. I've always used "Tacky Glue" and it works okay but I'd love to use something that is designed for the purpose... if such a thing exists.
My ideal glue would have these qualities:
1) be able to glue two pieces of waxy fabric together (it's not crusted up with wax, it's a thin layer of wax like on waxed kitchen paper.)
2) dry within 24 hours
3) clear when dry
4) be able to be constantly warm (i.e. on a lampshade) without tuning brittle or yellow
4) available in Canada, hopefully at a major retail store
I'll just stick to the Tacky Glue if necessary, but I keep hoping that something better might exist...
Yay! I'm so psyched to do these lampshades! I've got all the waxing done and now I just need to dye them! This'll be the first time I've made any since 1999-2000! I'm so inspired by this community... :)
