smoothing horns?
Jul. 21st, 2004 03:34 pmI know, long time no post. I'm working on a costume head right now for a manticore named Cercyon, and I'm working on his horns right now.
They were covered with the same kind of plaster that you wrap broken arms in, so there's a definite woven texture on them if you look close. I've gone over them already with a textured, thick black paint, but the horns are still nowhere as shiny smooth as I'd like them to be.
What kind of paint / texturing / treatment would you craftgrrls reccomend? I was thinking just layers and layers of mod podge, and then wet sanding it, but if there was something that was less...uhh...podgy, I'd appreciate your input. Normally, the texture would be all sorts of cool, but I made the mistake of making his "crown" horns smooth, so I'd like them all to look like they're from the same creature.
