Soap Making Supplies Price Comparison
Nov. 12th, 2002 12:20 pmI went to Wholesale Supplies Plus and priced a few things.
Then I went to Micheal's and priced a few things.
Here is my comparison (since I noticed a lot of you asking questions about where to buy the products at a less expensive cost. I have marked, in purple what the least expensive price is. Hope this helps you all out a bit!
Wholesale Supplies = WS
Michaels= M
10 lbs. glycerin soap~~~ WS= $16.25~ M= $22.99
Assorted "flavors"~~~ M= $2.49~ WS=$3.25-$5.25
Shrink Wrap~~~ M= $9.99 (for 3 yards of 60" wide)~WS= $2.50 (for 25 4x6 bags)
6 assorted glitters~~~M= $4.99~WS= $6.75
Soap dyes~~~M= $2.99 (for 3 colors)~WS=$14.95 (for 4 colors)
Pearl soap dyes~~~M=$2.49~WS= $5.95
Shipping~~~M= free, cus you by it at the store~WS= starts around $6.00
So, while I feel like this, combined with my impatience, makes Micheal's the better choice for me, I figured I would supply this info to you all so you can make better decisions for yourself!
Here is a pic of all I bought today:

A full list of products is:
10 lbs glycerin soap
3 "flavors"
1 soap mold
2 candy molds (for smaller soaps)
1 6-pk of glitter
2 pearly dyes
1 3-pk of dyes
1 roll of shrink wrap
1 christmas candy making kit
3 packages of misc christmas decorations (to put in the soap)
Grand Total= $73.52
Yep, it sounds like a bit of money but, i fyou think about it, all of the molds are re-usable. I will get MULTIPLE uses out of many of these things. Also, ALL of my christmas gifts, for family members, will be hand-made this year.........so, considering I will be spending about $30 more before I am done, taking care of EVERYONE for $110 is NOT BAD. I will be making gift baskets and filling them with soaps, candies, cookies, bread, and whatever else I can think of. I think it is a very practical and thoughtful gift to give. My son LOVES making things so he is the inspiration for all of this this year. He will be in the kitchen right along with me..........and having a BLAST! :-)
