i want to make myself a messenger-type bag for school in the fall, but i can't think of what to make it out of that won't break under the pressure of like 800 books and notebooks. i was thinking maybe corduroy (although i would need to make a bunch of adjustments to my sewing machine that i don't know how to do) or maybe even just make it out of duct tape, so i know it'll be sturdy.

any thoughts? i'm thinking basic messenger-bag format, although i'm not sure how i'm going to do the top (tie/zip/folding flap...).
