It's kind of a lost art. You know all those old photos of ladies where they have intricate lace collars, and what not? That's tatting. I'm in the SCA, and I've seen people do it before, but I've never had the urge to ask a stranger to teach me something. My aunt just picked it up though, and I've decided I can make her teach me sans guilt. Tatting shuttles and needles are only a few bucks, and it doesn't seem any more difficult than the hemp stuff I do. Just takes a bit of practice. (Note to self: Must takes pics of necklaces and box!) I was wondering if anybody here knows anything about it, or has any forewarnings, or tips or anything. Or if, after I've gotten a basic hang of it, anyone would like to me to post some instructions. ::shrugs:: ^_^
By the by, seems as if tatting is a family thing. My great grandma, and great aunt both tat as well. Weird.
Thanks in advance!
