Removing Glitter

craftgrrlThis being a crafting community, I figure someone has to have experience with glitter. I bought these gauzy, glitter-covered fairy wings for a costume party, but the glitter seems to be flaking off. I'd like to remove most of it before I have glitter all over the carpet. What's the best way to remove the glitter? Dunk the wings in water? Dip a rag in something and wipe it off?
