many needles and threads later...

i'm about to go back to art school, and before i get totally overwhelmed with all the things i have to do for my classes, i've been finishing up my just-for-fun projects. this is my maiden craftgrrl voyage.
project 1: blazer

i got this blazer at goodwill thnking it would be neato on its own, then i learned how to applique and went from there.
i cut the main design from a "teenage millionare" shirt and ironed on interfacing. the rays are from a del taco shirt.

if you can't tell, the blazer is red, yellow, and blue. so i had a primary color thing going. and to really be all about the virgin imagery i was going to applique red roses underneath from an old Bar Mitzvah shirt. but alas, i got bored and quit.
total cost was less than one of those shrunken blazers from target boutique.

project 2: bag

on a different trip to goodwill, i found this vintage anchor fabric.
the pattern is a Simplicity diaper bag pattern. i don't know what number, but it's really basic.
the pattern called for an outer fabric, a padding, and a liner.

instead of using a padding, i quilted the top fabric onto batting in a diamond pattern and sewed on the liner separately.
i also used striped fabric on the pockets.

this is another one of its pockets.

project 3: necklaces

i beaded this necklace at work.

if you're savvy to beading and want more thorough directions/a tutorial, please do comment and i'll hook ya up.

for this choker, i chose my colors based on the vintage clasp. the base is peyote stitch and the pink was sewn on afterwards.

this picture hopefully shows the mechanics of the clasp better. if not, it is a pretty picture, taken by readmorealexie.
thank you to readmorealexie for captaining my maiden voyage onto the scary scary internet. i would have immediately drowned otherwise.
