Sewing tension - argghhhh.
Sep. 5th, 2004 09:32 amAnd yes, I have searched the memories of here and other similar communities and know one could help me ;(. Heh. Anyhow, my sewing machine is feckered. I've mucked about with the tension, it wont fix. Its only a few hundred years old!! Its a singer 7186 from 1980 or there abouts. I have images of whats wrong behind the cut. And I need help.
So, Im in the process of making a skirt but the tension is whacked. On the front, the needle thread is being overlapped by the bobbin thread which is coming through the material to the front. It's all uneven and not due to my horrible sewing skills, its because the machine is gone to hell.
On the back it is all 'wobbly', the thread wont stay even.
When I try the tension fixer, it just makes either a) the fabric pucker, yet the thread is still not straight nor fixed.
b) not pucker but does what I described above.

Heres the thread. As you can see my camera is as crap as my sewing machine and wont take a sharp picture. Anyway, the pinkish thread is the thread from the needle. The black on it is the bobbin thread comingup through it.
The black thread is what the back of the stitch looks like. Its not straight and is crazy.

Heres my sewing machine. Behold the almightly craptacularness.
I just wanted to make a skirt ;(
Help a poor youngan like me?
