Getting the word out
Oct. 3rd, 2004 08:01 amI don't know if anyone's mentioned this yet, but for you knitters and crocheters out there, Michaels, the arts and crafts store, has teamed up with Warm Up America and they're accepting donations of 7 by 9 inch knit or crocheted sections to be joined to make afghans for the homeless. The website is here if you want to find out more information, including links to basic patterns. Since last time I checked it looks like Blankets for Canada has gotten involved, too, so Canadians don't get left out in the cold. *wink* (SO CHEESY.)
Really, though, if you knit or crochet at all and there's a Michaels near you, you should think about donating a rectangle or two. The Michaels I work at only has one donation so far and it's really sad to look into the box day after day and see the same lonely aqua blue section staring up at me. The blankets aren't going to be joined until Halloween weekend, so if you're a novice like me, you've got plenty of time to mess up and restart until you get it just right.
