Oct. 17th, 2004 09:48 amI might make myself a Halloween costume. Not sure yet, as I will probably be at home with the boyfriend watching movies and eating pizza & passing out candy to kids (although last year, we did something similar and maybe only four people showed up at the door ;_;).
Anyway, I have some ideas in mind, but I'm still a beginner at sewing. I was wondering if any of you girls know of a pattern similar to this dress I sketched out (behind the lj-cut). All I'd need, I think would be a pattern of the basic shape, and then I could alter it to add stripes of a different color. Also, I was wondering how many yards of fabric I would need (I'm 5'0" and wear sizes 1-3 in the juniors miss departments). One other question -- if I have clothing of similar shape (ie: tops and skirts), could I just use those to substitute for a sewing pattern instead, and just kind of wing it? I've made a top like that before by using another shirt to make a pattern out of magazine pages, lol. It turned out alright.
Thanks in advance. :)

Simple dress with shoulder-straps, and a sash to tie around.
