crafts + questions

all of my posts so far have been questions so i thought i'd post some pictures of my creations. i'm a bored apartment girlfriend so i make random stuff to pass the time and distract me from my joblessness.












this was supposed to go above our couch but ended up being too small so now it sits in the closet



the boy painted the doors of the tv stand + we spray painted new inserts for the light box [on the right]



1. we bought these film reels/cans months ago at a salvation army-type store. there are 15 smaller and 4 larger cans and matching reels. any suggestions about what we can do with them?

2. we re-arranged the apartment and now need a table lamp. i found this and and although we don't own a single slide, i'm determined to make it. other than buying slide film + taking our own, any suggestions about where we can find old slides? we've been to just about every salvation army, goodwill and thrift store within a 30 mile radius in the past few months and haven't seen any, so i'm thinking perhaps yard sales or flea markets?
