[identity profile] renai.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] craftgrrl
Okay, I seriously think that I'm going to cry.

I've been trying to teach myself to crochet a hat for the past three days. I posted in several communities asking for help, and a lot of people gave me really great advice. I've been working off of this (http://members.aol.com/JSchlossma/csc.html) pattern, because it's exactly what I want. It took me a few days to get the hang of the stitches, and to understand what all of the abbreviations and directions meant. I understand all of it now, and I've spent all day (on and off) working on this freaking hat. I'm almost all the way through the directions (I'm on my last 4 rows), and my "hat" looks nothing like it should. I think I accidentally made a barret. What is going on??? I'm using a size J hook instead of a G, but I didn't think it would make that big of a difference... Are there adjustments to this pattern that I should make? I have a small head, so should I just try making the child sized cap? I'm so frustrated at this point, because I really thought I had it down this time. Please help me before I cry and give up on crocheting forever!
