Nov. 5th, 2004 02:10 amThis is my latest finished project:
Voodoo Bag:

It really was quite a fiber adventure. I used circular needles to knit a large tube, then cast on to make the flap. This was my first attempt at intarsia. I used Lopi yarn, and felted it partially in the washing machine, but it was felting unevenly so I did the rest by hand. The flap turned out the worst--the sides curled in and felted onto themselves, and it somehow turned out narrower than it should have been. The skull looks more like a ghost from a pac man game. I added the fringe and hand felted that, then sewed on the skull beads. It's not quite what I intended, but it still looks pretty cool. I just wish the skull looked more skullish. I think anything I felt in the future I will do by hand--I feel I have more control over it.
