hem help!

i hemmed a pair of my boyfriends pants. i cut them first (bad bad), because there was way too much material, but i over estimated a little bit (dont ask). so i had to finally make a very small hem. the fabric of the pants seems to be delicate and it's already fraying. is there anything i can do now that i'm done hemming? i really dont want these pants to be a lost cause!
