First...I apologize ahead of time to anyone on my friends list who has already seen these.
heh

My mother and I have been making a few hats and we plan on donating them. We call them chemo caps...whatever. I mean...they can be used for anything. I just wanted to make some hats for people who have lost their hair that aren't plain.
When my grandpa got sick and lost all his hair, he hated the hats and such that were out there. He said they were so boring and plain...heh...so I made him something. Years later...while making hats to donate...I thought about younger people and perhaps they do not want just hats with stripes or solid colors. I have nothing against those hats...just some days you feel like something crazy...something different right?

So using some spare yarn I had, we whipped up these three.

Please excuse the crappy pictures. They were taken the other day before work and I was in a hurry. The sun was right in my eye too, so they are not the best, but it gives you an idea.

This one is made with neon yellow Caron Simply Soft. Then we used some Lion Brand Fun Fur...I forget the color...tropical or rainbow..something like that.
We did a basic double crochet hat and every 5th row we crocheted in the back loops to make it bump out a little....and then after we finished the yellow hat, we single crocheted over it in Lion Brand Fun Fur.

This one is mine. We are making similar ones though. It is done in the same Lion Brand Fun Fur and black Caron Simply Soft. I wore it for several hours the other day and it did not bother my skin at all. Ususally my forehead with break out in a rash or get all itchy...but this hat was nice

This hat...every other row was done in the back loop. We originally were going to take the blue yarn and make it swirl around but then decided only to do the bottom. So the hat has the bumps on it still..heh
I have no idea what kind of yarn this is. (the blue stuff) I got it from a friend online and had no idea what to do with it until now.
Yay!!

I plan on making some and donating them to the homeless shelters and such too.
I paid...about $1.75 for a skein of the Simply Soft and $3.50 for a skein of the Lion Brand Fun Fur. I will proally be able to get 3 or 4 hats out of the Simply Soft and 4 hats...or more...out of the fun fur.
So it really isn't all that expensive.
Plus I know the pattern by heart, so it gives me something to do at work in between customers.
