Nov. 22nd, 2004 05:42 pmHello! I've been lurking around for a bit and finally got some pictures of my most recent (and only, I guess) projects. I suddenly realized I owned a sewing machine a few months ago and have gotten totally addicted to craftiness since. This community doesn't help with the addiction ;) You guys are all amazing, and I've gotten so many good ideas. These are some skirts, I used patterns but I'm pretty sure they are both just circle skirts. I'm working on a "gothic" puppet for a friend right now, and some leggings for another friend, and trying to perfect my really awful crocheting.
Ren Skirt

The skirt has two layers, black satin and the brocade. The brocade was supposed to be cinched up front and back with four ribbons, permanently, but I sewed snaps onto all the layers so I could cinch up just some or all or none of it. Glad I did that, because the bottom layer is really light and just hangs there and looks wussy, so I wear it with both layers up in the front and down in the back. The ribbons come unsnapped constantly, esp. since I wear it dancing, so when I am less lazy/busy I will probably replace the snaps with hooks or buttons.

Beth wore a huge petticoat underneath and the poofiness was AWESOME, esp. when she was dancing.
Tutu skirt

3 layers of net and 1 of satin, with lace on the top net layer and rosebuds on the satin. The rosebuds are safety pinned on so I can remove them when wearing colors that don't match red. Once again, someday I will attach hooks or buttons, but I hate hate hate sewing them on.
I look silly, but the skirt looks good.

Note to self: next time, add an inch or two on the bottom. My next project is a pair of ruffly bloomers.
