As the holidays approach my life becomes more and more enmeshed in stitchy things. It' shard to beleive Jan will be only 2 years since the first time I ever picked up a needle!

Last Sat I went shopping for craft supplies and gifts for a secret santa swap on one of my cross stitch lists. I stopped at Hobby Lobby and picked up floss to finish my current cross stitch project (which is "Fishing Basket" by Cross My heart, Inc, which I can never find a pic of online), plus floss for an upcoming project. Did not even swing by the scrapping section, nope, nope.

Then I drove about 30 miles to Welcome Stitchery in Crystal Lake with a great selection to see what I might want to buy for the secret santa swap and how much the items were. I bought some Weeks Dye Works overdyed floss for yet another project [note to self, must buy this one as well!] - so now that one has all the floss and specialty fibers ready to go. I also got some Weeks Dye Works for the secret pal swap, and decided what else I will buy her. Shementioned she was really intot he Red Hat Society so I got her some Weeks in deep purple and garnet red (that color combo is one of my favorites). WS also has some Red Hat themed pin cushions -- a hat, a shoe and a purse to select from. I also saw a $6 RHS pattern at Hobby Lobby hich had a humorous saying on it, which seems to fit my secret pal's personality very well. The $$ limit is $20 so I might or might not include the pattern, since I already have the overdyed floss, a book, a magnifyer, and I also want to make her something but the pattern I have in mind shouldn't take more than 2 evenings to do.

I am almost done with the Fishing Basket. I started it when I was waiting at O'Hare for my flight to Alabama in Oct. I am at that super annoying part, where I have to do 2-3 random stitches here and there all in different colors, and I am also trying to fudge where I messed up the counting. I want to finish all the regular stitching before starting backstitching, which should take a week or two. I also want to stitch a holiday greeting and the recipient's (my stepfather) name, then wash, iron, frame and wrap it.
