Cookie Packing Question
Dec. 6th, 2004 02:34 pmI'm doing home-made cookies in a tin for the holidays. They're being shipped to friends and family all over the world, so of course, I need to pack them well. In the average round, short cookie tin you can put in some tissue, place the cookies inside, and then tuck in a slice of bread (the moisture gets absorbed and by the time it gets there the cookies are still spongy-fresh and the bread is dried up and scary-lookin', heh). However, in the interest of $ (they were on sale) and time (I'm making smaller, more perfectly round slice 'n' bake cookies from scratch) I bought tall, cylinder-shaped cookie tins. They would more hold a tube of cookies than a random selection. So, my question is... if I just took a biscuit cutter and put rounds of bread on the top, would the moisture make it down to those cookies at the bottom? Or would the top one be spongy and the bottom ones go stale? If we think that's what would happen, what could I use instead of the bread trick???
