I'm not sure if this is crafty enough to be posted here, but I hope some of you like it...

In Sydney, there are whole suburbs where neighbours forget the spirit of Christmas and engage in an all-out war for the most obscenely power-draining house decorations. They are written up in the local papers and hoards of people go and stand around in the street loudly proclaiming the virtues of flashing fairy lights and movement-activated santas.

I live in an upper-middle class area where that kind of thing would be frowned upon, so my flatmate and I decided to create our own version.

I hope you can see what it is. We took masonite and drilled a grid of holes into it, stuck fairy light bulbs through the holes to say 'Bah Humbug' and hung it over our balcony. The letters are about a metre (3 1/3 feet) high.

The best thing is that we can change the message once Christmas is over. We're planning to write 'Mind the Goat' in the New Year.
