knitting pattern

i want to knit some cat blankets this month, mostly for the critters knitters' coalition (and you should too if you have the time---they also want crocheted, sewn, and quilted blankets), but i also want to make one for my kitten, mamie (see precious user icon).

the thing is, i want it to have a big letter "m" on it. and i can't find any patterns online, via google, that will tell me how to do that. maybe there's a way of making up the pattern myself, but i'm just not that sophisticated.

does anyone have any resources or ideas that could help?
