i'm sorry if this is a stupid question and i definitely checked the memories and didn't see an answer but feel free to point me in the right direction in case i made a mistake which is ENTIRELY likely ; )

so being broke requires me to put my newly acquired knitting skills to christmas use. i'm making scarves for my mom, aunt and stepdad. now i am dumb and only bought one skein of each of the yarns. how many skeins does one typically need for a scarf? so i can go back to the store and buy more ASAP.
