Metal + Paint and/or Glue = ??

craftgrrlI want to collage/paint just about everything in my room. Which includes my lamps. I've done a lot of collage/paint stuff before, but not on metal. (although I have done an AOL tin)
-Could I use plain glue and glue on magazine cut outs? Then seal it with something like modpodge?
-Could I paint the metal with acrylics, then cover it with a sealer?
=/. I guess I could always get paint thats used for metal.
