Pocket Shrine/Treasure Chest Q's
Dec. 19th, 2004 01:15 pmHey again! Happy Holidays :) I looked through the memories and couldn't really find answers to my questions, so I thought I'd ask you girls.
I am going to decorate a little wooden box for my boyfriend for Christmas, and since he is into rock climbing I plan on painting the outside grey like a rock wall and then adhering little climbing holds that I make out of Sculpey all over it so it looks like an indoor rock wall. Would it be better to a) bake the holds then glue them on with super glue (the box isn't really curved it's relatively square) or b) make them and somehow bake them onto the box in the oven?
Also, I want to add little pictures to the inside and I was wondering what I could paint over a magazine cut-out or photo to make it glossy and resistant to damage- would clear nail polish work?
I was also thinking of making photo magnets by taking a picture and glueing it to a big magnet from, say, a pizza place or something, and then cutting it out, but I was wondering what glue to use and, again, what to put over the picture to make it glossy. Would contact paper work? I have never used that, and my local Michael's doesn't have clear contact paper.
Sorry, I love being crafty, but I don't know a whole lot about the supplies out there. Thanks for any help you can think of :)
