okay, i've heard so much about all the nifty things you can do with aol tins and such, but i've got something slightly different. i've got some sprint cd's that came in nifty little cardboard things that fold open, and then there's a little pocket where the disc goes. the outside of these box-type things is shiny, but it's just cardstock underneath. really, it's about the same surface finish and weight as a spiral-bound notebook cover, maybe a tad heavier.

so my question is this: can i just paint over them with regular acrylic paints, or should i use something else on it first (a primer of some sort, something to scratch up the shiny part, etc...)? should i paint them with acrylics and the seal them with something to keep it on? I'm going to put mix cd's in them and send them to my distant family for x-mas, so the paint needs to be able to stay put while it's being shipped inside a padded envelope or box of some kind. (while i'm at it, i might as well ask if any of you wonderful crafty people know a good way to send cd's through the mail and not worry about having them break.)

any info at all would be greatly appreciated. thanks!
