Reverse Applique quilt with a design of siamese twin skeletons. Sewn entirely by hand!





yeah it looks nicer in the pictures without the flash but in this one you can see it properly, which is good, yes?

reverse applique:
you tack two piecs of fabric of different colours together, one on top of the other. Then you draw the design you want onto the top layer of fabric, and carefully snip inside each piece of the design you want to show up the underneath colour, making sure you only cut through the top layer of fabric. Then you turn under the raw edges and slipstitch them down.
Carry on til you've built up the design you're after. If you want to include more colours, it's perfectly simple, just stitch together 3 or 4 different coloured layers rather than the 2.
I then used wadding, hand quilting and a bias binding edge to put the whole thing together
