Well, it's finals week, so I've been getting out at noon. Rather than doing something productive, like, say studying, I've been on a crafting spree. This afternoon I decided to try something out, and made a tutorial as I went along.
I made this.

And how? Why, I'll show you!
All you need is duct tape, scissors and a button (or whatever you want to use for your little flower center thing). Optional: a bobby pin or a pin-back. Also, I suggest doing this on a hard surface like a table or cutting board so you don't annhiliate your zebra shag carpet with duct tape (true story).
I found this gluteal-kicking duct tape at Michael's for $2.99. If you're a Day-Glo freak like I am, they have it in 32402918423 different colors, and I would highly suggest the investment. It's cute, and much easier to work with than regular duct tape.
1. Anyway, fold the duct tape over on itself like so. You should now have a piece of "double sided" tape about three inches long.

Don't worry, it doesn't have to be even.

2. Cut that piece off.

3. Now, draw your petal design on the duct tape. Don't worry about what color you use, it'll wipe off easily and won't show anyway. If you're as artistically challenged as I am, just copy my design rather than trying any fancy shapes.

See? Now you have a pretty little petal with duct tape on both sides.

4. Now, cut out four more.

5. You now have your bottom layer of petals. Cut out another petal, but make it a little smaller than the ones you just cut, like so.

6. Repeat step 4, cutting out four more petals the size of the smaller petal you just made.
7. Now, repeat step 5. Make yet another petal, this one smaller than the medium one (this is your third layer of petals). Make five small ones.
8. You should now have 15 petals, five of each size.

9. Cut out a little circle of duct tape, like how you made the petals. You'll use this as a base upon which you'll put your petals (sorry, I forgot to take a picture of this).
10. Lay your large petals on the circle base.

11. Tape those suckers down. You may have to use more than one piece.

12. Do the same with the medium layer, laying them on top of the large petals.

13. And with the small layer...

14. Take your button and put a little circle of tape on the back of it. This is a (very blurry) little circle of tape.

15. Put it smack dab in the center, and you have your flower!

Now, if you want to make it a hair piece...
Put a piece of tape between the "prongs" of a bobby pin, sticky side facing the "bumpy" part (the part that will be against the flower).

The back should look like this.

VOILA!

Enjoy?
