My recent craftings.
Jan. 23rd, 2005 04:24 pmHiya guys, I've been lurking around here for about half a year now, and I finally decided to actually post some things I've made! This was mostly all made this weekend seeing as I was inside with not much else to do during a snowstorm we had.
Pop can chinese lanterns

These were really easy to make, Just fill a can most of the way up with water, freeze it, cut lines down the sides with your favorite exacto knife, melf the ice with some hot water, push down on the top of the can to squish out the strips, and shape them however you wish. I got this idea off of a post on crafster. After I took the pictures I spray painted the cans black. They will adorn my patio when the winter is over. I put tealights in mine, but a friend recommended using christmas lights instead.
Pop Can Tab Belt

This one was really easy, but took a while. I used about 170 pop can tabs and a few metres of black string. I love the finished product though, it was totally worth the effort and having to take out and redo half of it when I noticed a mistake I made somewhere near the middle. I can do a tutorial for it if anyone wishes.
Fingerless 'Hobo' Gloves

These were really easy, I got the pattern off of craftser. Theyre also really warm, despite not having fingers and all. I made them in like 45 minutes. Basically to make them, just cast on 25-30 stitches(depending on the size of your hand) on size 7 needles. Knit till they're as long as you wish. Cast off. Then just sew up the sides (leaving about a 2 inch hole for your thumb near the end.) I knit mine with 28 stitches, for about 5 inches (30 rows).
Fleece Gryffindor Scarf (from Harry Potter)

This was easy peasy lemon squeasy (well, compared to the other one I own which I knit...). Took about an hour to cut and sew, and another hour to do the tassels (while watching tv.) It's SUPER WARM, being made of 2 layers of fleece, and very soft, and completely machine washable (unlike my knit one). I can post a pattern for this if anyone wants one.
Well, that's all for now.
