if you're on my personal friends group, you'll know how i've been having this weird desire to be romantic & stuff. i don't know where it came from, but it's here. i made this case to hold love notes between my hub & i. apparently, the little one thinks she's going to be writing in it, too!

it's pretty simple to do. the main thing is cutting the pieces from cardboard. you need 2 for the front & back cover + a spine, 1 for the flap + a spine, 2 for the paper holder flaps + 2 spines. cut out fabric to be a little larger then the front cover, back cover, flap, & their spines layed out in a row. then you lay those pieces on top of the wrong side of the fabric, position them, & glue them down. then fold over the leftover fabric around the edges & glue down. now you do the same for the paper holding flaps, but using paper to cover them. you'll also cut the edge below their spines to be longer, so you'll only fold over three of the edges to glue down. with that extra paper that you didn't fold over & glue down...you'll lay it on top of the backcover. you'll glue one to the top & one to the bottom. then cut a square of paper for each flap to hide the cardboard. lastly, you'll cut a big rectangle of paper (i have to cut two) to cover the cardboard on the covers. you can add velcro or magnets for closure. i sewed on a button & added a string before putting the paper on to hide the covers. hope that makes sense??? you should be able to make sense of it & see all the pieces in that last picture. i hope. if not, check out alisa golden's book, creating handmade books. it's one of the best.
