Seminole question

Hi,
I was wondering if any of you have ever tried to do seminole type patchwork on fussy fabrics such as satin or velvet? I have a a huge trunkload of satin and velvet scraps (some pieces are up to 5m long, and some are only like 40cm long) and I thought it might be fun to make a fancy sexy duvet cover with them. I don't tend to like the "crazy quilt" look which you typically see with satins and velvets, so I'm looking for a more rhythmic and orderly look --- hence seminole.

So, before I try this and learn that it's a headache waiting to happen...
has anyone tried doing extensive pieceing with these sprt of dressmaker's fabrics? Will I just drive myself insane? Cause if so, then I'll probably re-think my plans.

ps: I've never actually done seminole before, but I have sewed for 25 years, so I figure that I'me pretty safe trying something new. Oh, and I do have a serger, which I'll use to keep that dratted satin from fraying.
