The dress that I took the black velvet from had boning up the front, which I left in to help give the top a bit more shape. I put ten pairs of grommets up each side to lace the ribbon through, about an inch apart. The lace trim on the sides of the front is sewn in between the red and black fabrics with about a 1/4" seam allowance. I cut out a rectangle of shirt for the front wide enough to show the logo, and then sewed it to the black sides along the original seams. Then I measured the width of the three pieces sewn together, measured my bust, and cut another rectangle of red fabric a few inches wider than the total width around I wanted the shirt to be.
