Month of Softies community
Feb. 4th, 2005 04:04 pmHey crafty kids! I just wanted to let you all know about the new community
monthofsofties, made to go along (very unofficially, of course) with Claire Robertson's Month of Softies project.
Basically what her project is about is every month she tosses out a theme - November was "The Accessorized Elephant", January was "Vintage Catwalk" and so on - and crafters are encouraged to interpret the project in some... crafty way. As the founder says, "The themes will be mostly aimed at people who make dolls, toys, monsters and other such items but can easily be applied to any craft project. You could paint it on something, embroider it on something else, print it all over the place or carve it out of something else again. The more varied the media the more interesting this will be."
Anyhow, I made the community to a) get more people into the project, which is really fun and can also be really challenging, and b) have a place where folks doing the project can ask questions about how to do things, share info, post about their progress with projects and basically talk about anything to do with the project. Everyone from every crafty persuasion is welcomed at
