purse tutorial
Feb. 13th, 2005 10:54 pmHere is a tutorial for this purse:
someone asked me for it, and I've never made a tutorial before, and I thought it'd be fun.
1. Cut out 6 pieces of fabric-- 4 for the handles (front and back for 2 handles) and 2 for the main body of the purse. Iron on medium to heavyweight interfacing on ALL pink pieces.

2. Attach 2 body pieces on 3 sides, good sides facing each other. TOP open.
3. Same for lining body pieces, except leave a hole in one of the sides about 3-4 inches long to pull the bag right-side-out through at the end.
4. Attach handle pieces to one another the same way as the body, except leave the BOTTOM open.

5. Turn the handle pieces (you now have 2) right side out and stitch around the edges so they lay flat.
6. Turn the lining RIGHT SIDE out and put it inside the body pocket (still inside out) so the good sides are touching. Slide the 2 handle pieces in. It doesn’t matter which side is facing which side since the front and back of each handle should be identical. The raw sides of all 4 pieces should all line up now.
7. Stitch around the top of the bag.
8. Pull the bag right-side-out through the hole in the lining, and stitch it shut.
9. You should now have a bag with no handles. Like this:

10. Cut a piece of paper in the shape of a looooong oval. Pin it on the center of one of the handle pieces. Stitch around your oval.
11. Cut out near stitching. The edges will be raw but the seam will prevent it from getting too gross.

12. Repeat on the other handle piece.
13. Ta da!!!

hopefully that made sense. input/questions will result in tutorial alterations.
